When we think about tie down equipment , the ratchet straps and winch strap are playing a huge role in securing truck load, ratchet tie downs can be used almost anywhere, such as on the trailer or in the box truck , while winch straps usually are used with truck winches on flatbed only . Of course truck tie downs are much more than just ratchet straps and winch straps , for example there are binder chains , ratchet binders, logistic strap, and much more .
We’re not going to talk about regular tie downs but the reflective tie downs which have two reflective strips on the strap , in dark environment the reflective strips can be seen from far away , this sounds like a nice feature, I believe it is. When it comes to safety, even slight improve on the risk should be worth buying the reflective straps. We don’t have enough data to prove the safety benefits of reflective tie downs yet, though we can understand that if people can easily see the straps on the truck in low light, it’s pretty easy to avoid any kind of undesired contact with the truck.
Now compare the price of regular tie down to reflective tie down, all the offers can be found online nowadays, just search for reflective tie down you will see that the reflective straps are more expensive due the material and make of the product, tie down straps are usually sold at $10-$12, reflectives will increase the price by $1 to $2 , it doesn’t sound too expensive to me, spend extra 10 dollars or more to get 10 reflective tie downs is not bad, we know we can use these straps for a few months or longer, the conservative estimation will be at lease 6 months, it’s only about $3 a month to have the added security of reflectives! I don’t know what people will do but I will definitely get those reflectives!
